Capacitive probes: what they are<\/h3>

An insulated metal probe mounted in a metal container forms an electrical capacitor with the wall whose capacity increases as the level of the fluid contained inside it increases. For capacitive measurements, a fluid with constant permittivity<\/strong> is therefore necessary. The simple and resistant structure (rod or rope sensor) allows you to measure the level of liquids, solids, granular, conductive and non-conductive fluids. The capacitive level sensor<\/strong> represents a proven and economical solution for level measurement, and can be used for both liquids and solids.<\/p>

How a capacitive level sensor works<\/h3>

The level measurement of a capacitive sensor is based on the variation of the electrical capacity of a capacitor. In practice, the level probe and the tank wall form a capacitor<\/strong> whose electrical capacity varies depending on the quantity of product contained in the tank. In the simplest sense, capacitors store electrostatic energy in an electric field. The capacity of the capacitor to store this energy (a measure known as \u201ccapacity\u201d) increases as the probe is covered by the product<\/strong>.
